DW vs Earnhardt was on the short list. I wish I could have been in the garage for some of those heated "conversations".

You have to give credit to both of them, because the respect they had for each other was obvious in later years.

Most of those arguments was about how to do an interview. Earnhardt really didn't like DW's comic approach. He thought it made drivers look like clowns.

Number 12....me vs. my pathetic attempt at wrenching a front motor dragster in 1985. We broke everything but the trailer. Thank God my first son was born and I had an excuse to quit.

What about Michael Schumacher vs Mika Haikkonen?

2 straight years, it was these two. Everyone else was fighting for 3rd place.

Good idea Doug. It's on the list.

I wrote a deal on this subject back in 2004. When I met Jim Oddy for the first time he said, "You're the guy that wrote the story that's on my office wall." After regaining consciousness, we yapped about the gasser stuff for an hour or two.

                        It's VERY fun stuff.

Number 7 was just a view of the future for stock car racing. Too bad. The Mustang 5.0 vs. Buick GN wars at E-town in the late Eighties were good. ;D ;D ;D

mustang already won. they didn't have to discontinue it for a few years because of very low sales.
