The class that this car is going to run in has always been based on production bodies and even though they have admittedly gone cartoonish at times, you can still look at one and say, "That's a '63 Corvette," or "That's a '41 Willys" etc. What this does is scrap all that by using this fanstasy land shape.
This car will be running the same class as this one:
look at that car..
really look at it..
now look at a 68-82 vette..
other than the laid back window and the scoop..
it's basicly the same body lines..
just take'n alittle farther..
change the airbrushing on the nose. to the ooutlines of a vette.. and wa la
if i remember right they used to give weight breaks for pre '64 bodys, that's why the '63 vettes are so popular.
i really don't see anything wrong with Martin's car, other than it being ugly. the problem though, i think, is that if it's successful the staging lanes will be full of them. what the world needs now is more nitro......add a huge wing on the back for the load necessary with nitro and you might be able to throw all those aero advantages out the window.
Thw other thing that could happen is this thing could be a turd, Pro Mod's make a ton of power maybe the drag of the more sqare bodies does not hurt them.
One of the primary reasons the entire field was running split window corvette bodies for many years was because they were the most aero bodies out there.

I"d think a 78 up carmaro would be .. right up there too

I think you are right, but no one is making the bodies. Cyngegy Composites just started making their 2nd Gen Camaro body, but as of right now, they are only made with a '70 nose.
I think one thing that has helped to keep cool promods out there is that I think (and could be wrong) that pro mods still do alot of match race stuff and have a better chance of booking gigs with retro bodies. Who really wants to see this lady remington special? (of course I kinda do but I don't count)
