2 places in OR to run the dunes, Florence to Cos Bay and Sand Lake...Sand Lake is very close to Pacific City, South of Tillamook (for those who may want to look on a map), Pacific City is also "Home of the Dory Fleet" boats launched into the surf.. For years they used cars with the top above the windshield, behind the seat hacked off and the rear end by the floorboards area..home made rims and normal tires ballooned out.. They were street legal.. Towed the dories to the beach and back.. Many were also on the dunes at Sand Lake...some retained front sheet metal, most didnt.. .... The better ones looked likt this, but guys had fun with all kinds.. 4X4's killed those kinds of buggies..
