It does not look like the truck was hooked on much of the sign in the end. It would have been a fun ride down if it let go.

Can you imagine how many and how compressed the discs in his back would be if it had dropped !

I'm going to guess that there wasn't much speed involved since the truck is "parking" in the shoulder lane. I'd bet the driver and truck were part of some road work, he dumped, than started going through the gears get up to speed, all the while the box was slowly coming down till,,,,,,,,,BANG!!!!! low speed, maybe 30mph, hence the sign is still standing.

Looks to me like that truck driver did a commendable job of delivering that road sign to just the right place. Problem was, when he was fixin' to set his truck bed back down, the hydraulics lifted the cab and frame instead. Thus his dilemma. At least that's the story I'd be tellin'.....
