Just establishing the thread with a few photos from today. There will be many, many more tomorrow!

I found their pit area earlier in the day. Some nice rigs, but only used in a recovery role. I think they have to survive on what they carry in the cars.
They drive the cars over a specific timed route. It's a to-the-second rally against the clock.

It's easier to load them to photobucket then move them here. Here's a few more of the first cars arriving. The first car is a Mercury, driven by an Australian crew. People and cars from all over the world.

Keeping these in order is impossible. I'll try to group them, but....... From phone to computer to photobucket to here inverts the order each move so........you can scroll back and forth if you want to study something. OK?

I caught this Rallye last year as they came out of South Bend,
Indiana. Followed them to Duluth, Minnesota.
Had a HOOT With that Bunch in the "Wandering Troubadours Of Finland" Converted Bus. They are the Pit Crew, Support Team, and Beer Run Guys for the American LaFrance Racer.

Yup. They said they never check the oil, just add two quarts every morning. The chains make a hell of a mess. That's an original piston on the running board. I don't know if it's a spare or just a decoration. They gave me a hat pin like the image painted on the fuel tank.

About 15 years ago they were here, and the convention bureau dropped the ball bigtime. The event coordinator told the mayor "We are NEVER coming back here". Therefore, color me surprised to find they were in town this evening.

One of the few overheated ones. It was 102°.
