There are so many details that it is hard to list them all but I will touch on the basics for now and will add more as the event gets closer.
First we will be making this a three day event at Thunder Valley Dragways. The event will include a car show, swap meet, points race and a dash for cash race.
Friday evening is the regular street wars class which is open to the public but allows you to hot lap if you wish. The club felt this Friday night event would help all of those who would like to arrive early or spend the weekend camping at the track.
On Saturday what Glenn has done for us is to open the gates at 9:00 am for a much earlier start. In addition, he has eliminated the extra small classes to allow for our event. There will still be the usual Saturday night shootout but the earlier start will allow plenty of time for the final Midwest Mopar points race (see the TVD website for other points races) followed by the dash for cash. We have moved the 23rd annual Moparama all mopar car show and swap meet to the track as well to combine our events into one location. TVD has given us the entire north side of the track for this event with conveniences such as food, restrooms and seating to watch the races. If you wish to go to the pits to check out the race cars there is a walk way to the south side.
Sunday you may join any of TVD's classes and the club is working on plans to allow for a show and shine on the north side of the track near the swap meet.
Please note that we have moved this event to August 15th-17th which is a month earlier than years prior. The club felt this change was necessary due to the unfavorable weather we have encountered in years past.
Last years event included a $1500.00 payout for the dash for cash and we are looking to increase the purse this year. There will also be plaques & door prizes awarded at the car show as well as event t-shirts for sale.
