  • Geezers @ The Grove - Nostalgia Drags August 2-4

    August 2, 3, 4

It was a common question racers and fans asked Maple Grove Raceway management in 2012: “When is the Geezers coming back?”
By popular demand, the Geezers Reunion at The Grove has been returned to the schedule for 2013.
The nostalgia event will be run Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 2-4. The race features the featuring the Auto-Plus Cavalcade of Funny Cars and the Drag Racing Online.com AA/FC Challenge. Only Nitro cars will be making qualifying runs on Friday, while both Nitro and Alcohol cars will run on Saturday.

The Geezers Reunion will include three E.T. racing brackets for pre-1983 cars with open time trials on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and eliminations on Sunday. Racers who show up Sunday morning for these classes are still welcome to compete. There will also be a race for Nostalgia Stock-Super Stock.
The popular car show and cruise will also be in the program.

And for more nostalgia, the card will include vintage F/X, Super Stocks and Gassers, along with 7.0 Index Front-engine Dragsters and Altereds. The latter group can take part in a special race sponsored by Boninfante Friction.
Also included in the show are Danny O’Day’s Wheelstander and Bob VanSciver’s Jet Dragster. The 2013 Class of the Maple Grove Raceway Walk of Fame will be inducted.

There will be a car show, and a cruise to the track from Wimpy & Dee’s Diner in Honey Brook.

The DRO AA/FC Challenge features some of the best Nostalgia Funny Cars in the nation competing for points and prizes. Some of the nitro cars booked into the show include Brand X, driven by Mike Lewis; Poverty Stricken, driven by Peter Gallen; Jungle Jim; Jake Crimmins; Mike Burkett Camaro driven by John Hale; Blue Max driven by Ronnie Young; and the Violator driven by Shawn Bowen.
Nitro Funny Cars will have one qualifying run on Friday night, Aug. 2, as part of Auto Locator Grudge Racing. They will then run one qualifying run on Saturday morning before the big show Saturday night at 7 p.m. featuring all elimination rounds. The Alcohol cars will make two passes in a “Chicago Style” format on Saturday only.

Bracket racers can warm-up Friday night at the Auto Locator Grudge Race for $20 or $25 for towed cars. It’s also a special “Ladies Night” on Friday where all female spectators (no racers) will be admitted free. Spectators will also get a $5 off coupon for Saturday admission.
That’s right, we’re having a good, old-fashioned “Fox Hunt” on Friday night. Admission for male spectators is $15, so bring a date who gets in for free!
There will be a $30 carload special after 3 p.m. on Saturday. Parking is free!

Entry fee for the brackets is $50 for two days (Saturday & Sunday), or $35 for Sunday only.

Grippo Racing will be there with race cars and fully stocked coolers...Stop by and say hey!
