          One of my first electric "projects"........when I was about 10 years old, my great-great aunt (who ran a first-class Log Cabin Curio Shop business) gave me a phone just like this.
          She would always reward me for working for her by letting me pick something from her shop.
          THis was one heavy sun-of-a-gun, could easily have doubled as home protection device!

          So I immediately cut into the phone line that ran through my bedroom, made the connections, and had a working phone of my own! Pissed my sister off to no end, as she had to use the phone just outside my door in the hallway.

          This was the time I also inadvertently learned just how much voltage runs through the phone lines when your phone is ringing in. Yikes!
