Just as prices were set to dip below $2 a refinery in northern Illinois, or somewhere "up there" went down and even though we don't get ANY fuel from that refinery, our prices went right back to $3 because "they" were afraid their price would increase. As Jim's Gas Buddy picture shows, we are in the $2.26 - $2.43 range and most places are on the high end of that range even after the refinery has been brought back on line.
Gougers, the whole lot of "them". Then there is a local (KY) political situation (KY AG) that arises every election cycle but nothing is ever accomplished. I need to efi my bbo to see if I can get 17mpg like Randal.
EDIT: It would take roughly 15,ooo miles of driving to break even on the efi investment. Considering I've owned the car for almost four years and put maybe 250 miles on it, it would take sixty years to recover the cost of the efi. Granted, the low mileage number is due to mechanical next-weakest-link syndrome and even though nearly everything that could need maintenance/replacement has been replaced, I'm still slightly uncomfortable trusting the thing to get me home. And I should probably check my remaining free tows from AAA before going far as it has been on the hook more times than I can remember.
