  • Who's Your Idol?

Humans are not perfect. Nobody alive is perfect. But there are standouts, above the rest.

    I've got two.

Johnny Winter. He lived longer than an albino should, made a living playing music and played the best guitar licks in the world and remained out of the spotlight his entire life.

And yes, I'll go there - Keith Turk. If you don't like that guy, there's something wrong with you. A minute with Keith is like a year with somebody else. That's how it seems to me. More 200 mph club hats than a hat rack will hold. And such an attitude, it makes you back up a step or two. "Get your nappy ass...." to wherever.

With the obvious choices of Dr. King and Gandhi I have to add one more - my Mom, Mary K. Stokes. While she didn't invent anything or cure anything she taught me and others (including my daughters) the value of putting your head down and keep on moving. NOTHING, not even cancer, could stop her - she was a 43 year breast cancer survivor. Amazing person with a huge heart and I'm so proud to share genetic material with her.

Oh - and we look a lot alike, too!

I realize it is not much of a stretch, but, it would have to be not my Dad, but, the childhood image of my Dad, and trying to hold myself to that higher standard... That way I can pass that on to Sean...

Seems like the whole concept of having an idol is something that didn't work out for me. After much thought I can literally say I don't have a one. It would've been better.

Volunteerism = sharing. Socialism = enforced sharing. And, funny how rulers of socialist systems wind up getting so fantastically rich at it.

              Whoops, politics.

I don't have one either loren. Impressions life long are conservative, we all make mistakes. Sports gains idols..real world analogy, but not all that real.

the real sick, they do not know to scam a v.a. pension.
the real need of knowledge, is not paying to be elite.

how can there be an idol..impossible.
music idols.. anyone that intrigues an audience is above quite a few. Other than that...no idols for me.
I met chuck yaeger once,I was a working crew chief. hardly enthralled when you are eye to eye.Maybe idol is a goal...achieving it needs a new idol.

Had one once. Turned out he was an asshole. So that shot that mess down forever. And at my age, I realize anyone who needs an idol, is an idiot.

I'm with Loren in that having an idol doesn't quite work out for me... there are a lot of people I hold in high regard. Pity I'm not one of them! HA!

I really wanted to just answer Billy.

                              (Get it?)

As far as board hero's go, if I can only pick one, I cast my vote for
