I go to the HAMB for informational purposes only.....don't do any posting
I think I could contribute........back in the 50's.... as a kid, I hung around those flathead
three window coup guys with the duck butt hair cuts and cigs rolled up in their t's
I can remember just like it was yesterday
I just hang here and try to stay out of trouble......

you ought to post a Tech Week tutorial on how to properly roll your cigs in your sleeve

please forgive my ignorance but what is a soup nazi?
Sure, we are happy to forgive your ignorance (just kidding) :D
The Soup Nazi was a character on TV comedy series Seinfeld, who sold excellent soup, but would not sell it to people he didn't like or who did not follow his strict purchase instructions. Here is a YouTube clip, that gives you the lowdown;
I've lurked on HAMB, and never really thought it was anything special; I must say I do this as a hobby so listening to people threaten one another for whether or not something is or is not allowed on HAMB just isn't something I'm going to waste my time participating it.
my "other" lurk/post site is http://www.hotrodders.com/ and yes, I know the founder can be a bit...hmmm... off-the-wall but the site is just less offensive.
Still, my mainstay is this one - mostly because of the attitude typlified by your collective response to my bad day last week.
HAMB seems to me to be a message board set up to cater to a group of people who's interests fall within certain limits of the automotive hobby. There's nothing wrong with that. Most of the complaining I'm hearing here about the place, seems to be coming from people who dislike having to adhere to their rules, written or otherwise. The solution is simple - don't go there, and you won't have to worry about it. I'm pretty sure the regular membership there won't miss those of us who choose a different path of the hobby.
At the end of the day, we are all doing the car thing for fun. If building '50s style jalopies and dressing like a greaser is their idea of fun, and they want to limit their message board to that, that shouldn't be a problem for the rest of us.
