WOW That Was Close.....

The highlight of the day, sort of, an older guy (maybe even as old as we are) lingered around Red in the pits and finally I greeted him. He was obviously overly-curious, what with all of the other more impressive cars there which should get more attention.

He was a driver, had on a racing uniform on. He asked, what's up with Pickard's garage in Alabama? I told him the whole story, that's my sponsor for a six-pack of beer. He got a big kick out of that He had spent a lot of years a long time ago in that part of Alabama, just wanted to know when he saw the Tennessee tag to go with it.

Still shots first, they're quicker and easier. AMP has gone big time, they've got a world-class clubhouse now where there used to be a double-wide trailer. Remember, it's a private club, they've finally gathered up enough dues over time to build their dreams in the material world.

One photo is a good shot of how everybody throws their stuff on the ground (now asphalt) and leaves it all day, un-bothered. The issue yesterday was the wind, blowing your "stuff" all over. Chairs, jackets, water bottles, everything but floor lacks and cows getting blown downwind.

I don't know how Superman can make such great videos with a GoPro from inside the car. They look great, ours don't. With ours, they don't come out. The view through the windshield (on the camera) is just the Great White Light. I jacked with the brightness, trying to display the view of the track, but it ain't much. We've got to mount that camera somewhere else next time.

All of the drive-it-there cars were on one side of the clubhouse, all the the trailered cars were on the other side of the clubhouse, the other parking lot. Two different societies.

You forgot the "other" society at AMP, the folks with actual memberships and garages at the facility. You can see the bays in the background.

As bad as the video is, it's impossible to reach around behind the seats to start the camera when you're strapped tight into a 5-pont harness. You can't get there. One time at Road Atlanta we were about to go and only then I realized my glasses were so smudged I couldn't hardly see. So I used Unit's shirt cuff to wipe them off, that's all I could get to.

And yesterday, on the starting line, Unit said, "Oh no. My face itches. Underneath the helmet....." Girl Up girl, we're about to go..." HAHAHAHAHH!!!!!!!

I'll harass you guys in a week or so, going into work duty, which is actually prison at home. We have had a great week of fun going into it....y'all have a great week coming up! See y'all on the other side of it. I think we're ahead on fun.

You think that's bad? I was helping a newby get strapped in, tightened and adjusted.. Got all done, less than 2 minutes to GO time.. He pushed his helmet down so I could read his lips. "I GOTTA PEE!"
