here I am....in my old truck....396, I had swapped a TH400 to replace the 4 speed by then. Yes, that's brushed on house paint on the truck.

heh...I didn't paint the truck with house paint...it was owned by a house painter when we got it, within a year of this photo, I had stripped all the paint and primed it.

FYI, pressure washer takes 99% off!
We use house paint for girl's rooms.. Once while getting paint, the clerk said "You must really love your daughter"
I say that I do, but why did she say that
She says all the pink paint I bought..(3gallons for 2 cars and touch up)
I say "Oh she has her own home now, this is for her car"
Clerk was aghasted.. "this ain't car paint"

Mostly in the low 15s at that time, I think We got it down to the low 14s with some other changes the following year...gears, slicks, cam, etc. It was a fun time, I started college in fall 1979, and got a part time job at a junkyard. All my money besides food went to gas and go fast parts.
