I'm replacing the top on my 92 convertible Camaro. The picture below shows the "stay pads" which, to my knowledge, are in place primarily to keep the bows positioned correctly and secondarily to protect the top from the bows. The stay pads I have appear to be in good shape and I am planning on reusing them. The question I have relates to the sagging stay pad between the 3rd and 4th bows. I am thinking that I should remove the staples on the 4th bow and snug up the stay pad and restaple. This model has a headliner and you can see in the picture that it is taut and positions bow 3 relative to bow 4 such that the distance can not be greater that what it is in the picture. Can anyone think of or does anyone know why I should not take up this slack? Please chime in. Thanks,
