    Nobody thinks about their old tires and where they go, this is a huge dump near Madrid.

      We had one blazing up here in Everett, Washington about 35 years ago. Burned for days

        Here in NC they turn them back into roads along with dead shingles. But that's a fairly new technology and I don't know how widespread that is. And maybe it's just percentage that get reused. Either way, a great idea if it proves to work OK.

          Had a bigger one burn here in Wichita back in the 80's.... burned for weeks. Train tracks ran through the yard, and a spark from the steel wheels ignited the tires. Fire department just kept it from spreading. The yard had to be cleaned up afterwards or be listed on the EPA's Superfund site.

          And per Dan's observations, they freeze the tires and grind them up for making roads or playground cover. Magnets remove the steel belts for recycling.

              IŽve seen tire rubber separated from the steel inside using dry ice, freeze Žem and smash Žem.
