I like this thread, I leave facebook out of my thoughts.
I check into ancestry.com once and a great while.. my sisters account. she wants me to.
The dna test is now more than a year.. possibly several, and their science is updating even now.
it even says to check in, changes will emerge as it gets more precise
44% irish
24% western europe (english wales northwestern erope)
22% french
6% italian
3% norway
1% native american
this is my sisters profile. I will show up a little different
my beard is exactly scandinavian for example...found nowhere else as oldest origin.
300+ years after migration .. I am the only one with my appearance in my family.
until my fathers father...
anyway
Looking at matches, we predate the revolutionary war in america, have a native american as our oldest ancestors (just one)
the list updates to actual people,
today I found "1st cousin, extremely likely..."
my mind is blown when we actually look like each other.
me and my two brothers standing next to this giant (he is a large guy) you would just see it.
the oddity? the last immediate relation is two great grandparents ago.
the late 1800s early 1900s.
DNA is now teaching me that things emerge like a seed that finally found its safe place to grow.
1st cousin is usually very close by, like an immediate uncle or aunt...
but 120 years with no immediate relation to match that closely....?
truly amazing.
the guys face and all.
I am in awe.
his career? building electronics. I have been doing that at home for 20 years.
I am tempted to get my own account and start chatting with some of these people staying open about the family dig.Previously boxer3main

I just said hello to the brother I never met.(same parents)
he turned 48 the other day. I turned 46 a few weeks ago.
Hardly upsetting in any way. As if to solve a mystery ..
starting with "hello."
I rambled some facts.
there is a pause. A silence that has been there many times...
yet a thread open that can never close.

I asked this question once.
I think I was 2 years old shaving my beard as I stood on the bathroom counter into the mirror, dad shaving his off as well.
