  • Best drummer

There was a thread about the best guitar player, so I think there should be one for drummers. I'll start with this performance, so keep it going.....

again - like the guitarists - this is nearly impossible to answer.

For me- Niel Pert from Rush, not only because he's a great percussionist, but also he writes most of the lyrics.
There's always something new to learn.

Omar Hakim. I saw him with Sting and I couldn't figure out where all that sound was coming from - until I figured out that he can do a smooth roll - with one hand, while the other hands and feet are doing something else. Yes, I know I'm implying more than two hands. BTW - that was a GREAT band.

                Re: Best drummer

Neil Peart definitely needs to be near the top of the list.

Stewart Copeland is pretty decent too ... try to keep up air-drumming to some early Police stuff. ;)

                cheers

LMAO, I thought about starting this one too

The two that first jump to mind are Keith Moon and Kenny Jones but for two with a completely different style but loads of talent check this out

Not near the top but at the top. Neil by far is the best, but then I've seen Rush countless times so I might be a little bias. ;)

Again, there is no correct answer to this thread. There are numbers of drummers who are good.......Peart, Mike Portnoy, Terry Bozzio, Steve Smith, Mike Mangini, Ian Paice, Tommy Lee (fun to watch, but not that technically good), Will Calhoun.......just to name a few. All are excellent in their genres of music.
If the question of who was my main drumming influence? Without a doubt, that would be Sean Kinney from Alice in Chains.
