  • Thoughts for a Friend

I've been so consumed by work, putting in lots of hours and crashing, I've had my head stuck in the sand so to speak. And I've got little use for the media anyhow these days, especially in an election year.

But there's something to be said for following the news, or even if you don't. If you don't you might not know something happened. Deaf Bob all the way out in Oregon alerted me to this one, I had no idea. Our great friend Lisa From West Virginia is in the middle of this, we didn't know until DB sent me an email. I tried to call Lisa on her cell phone, got her voice mail. We are very concerned.

Over a dozen are dead after massive flooding in West Virginia, Meteorologist Danielle Banks has the details.

Most ghastly was a floating house, on fire, going under a bridge..

That she IS. Maybe they were just knocked off the grid by all of it and they're high and dry. Like Barry said, the worst is not knowing.

But anyhow, thanks for the heads up DB. I was asleep at the wheel. Worry.

She sent me a pic of her "front yard". Seemed to be a hilly field and they are high up..

Lisa's okay. She just called me back. They're up on a mountain 1000 feet above all of the trouble. But lots of people lost houses. Lots of people who can't afford to lose houses, but who CAN afford to lose a house? She's okay. Thoughts for the people who did.

I've been watching this on the news and I can't help but think how I came thru there less than a week ago. I find myself pulling for the nice folks who helped me at the motel or who waited on me in a restaurant. I'm not sure the part I went thru was hit the worst but my heart goes out to those folks.

Lisa was born in West Virginia, has been married to the same guy from West Virginia for a million years, and she will never leave there. That's where she IS, and on the phone she was saying she's never seen anything like this disaster in all of her life.

                        How they figure that? ..

That's another one of those media sayings. They figure that's safe to say because there's no one around to ask. And whoever said or wrote that is not in the middle of it and affected by it.
