  • Tubing Bender ????

    Hey guys,

Anyone have any recomendations about what type of tubing bender to get. Looking for something that will bend 1 3/4 .134 wall mild steel and .083? wall moly. Standard NHRA cage materials. I don't want to spend a fortune, If I could find something that works well for under a grand it would be cool.

    Thanks for the help.

This will be interesting to me as well.
It's really no different than trying to glue them back on after she has her way.

Those orange ones do a good job of crushing exhaust tubing. DAMHIK

I have seen those... remember, the 3" refers to PIPE size. Pipe is measured ID whereas tubing is usually measured OD and by wall thickness. The orange benders work great for schedule 40 pipe.

didnt think about that, like i said i dont have a need for the hydrolic one because i go to some one else for exaust or what not. my bench top works great for what i do.

I'd be interested in this as well. The last tubing bender I used turned out to be a tubing kinker...

jd2.com Not that expensive if non-hydraulic, I used 1 3/4 x .134 tube on my cage and had to use a cheater bar about 4 foot long (actually used a piece of the tubing), but the unit is heavy duty and could take it. Mounted the unit on a frame work built from pieces of truck chassis frame rails and bolted it to the garage floor with four 1/2 bolts. Does a really good, no kinking. Haven't done the moly .083 The point I wanted to make with the cheater bar is it takes alot to bend that diameter and wall thickness by hand, better eat your Wheaties. ;D

I'm with John... The JD2 bender does a real nice job for the price and you can always buy more dies if you need to bend another size pipe!

Now I just have to decide if I willing to cough up the extra coin for the hyd version.
