yes and no..
they don't take taxes out of it,, but you are to claim it on your taxes.. no body does..
here anything over 600.oo you have to go to the lotto office and you will get hit with taxes on it..
Most take the 4 bucks and roll it into two more plays for the powerball.. or other.

What you spent on tickets is subtracted from your winnings, for tax purposes. Most folks don't have to pay tax on their lottery endeavors.
