Is it time to buy a new car?

I certainly don't need it right now, but the collapse of industry and proposed 42mpg limits have got me thinking.

I will be moving back to Boston in a year and consolidating two daily drivers to one (plus the Chevelle of course.) I could trade in an 11 year old SUV with less than 100k and a 4 year old 30 mpg commuter for one family (no Camaro, Challenger or Mustang) vehicle if there was a screaming deal. Otherwise the economics don't work.

Are there screaming deals?

I don't put much faith in the 42 mpg propoganda, but reading the story says they would start phasing it in on new models in 2011...

I've been thinking the same thing, if you got the money, now seems to be the time to do it if your job situation seems stable

Read on another site that they're ALREADY all gone. The GT is no slouch-I saw a brand spankin new one at KCIR last week running 14.0's @ 102mph. Damn good looking car too.

If you are looking for a new family hauler - yes - there are deals to be had all over the place.

Most seem to be either with the 6.0L engine or Automatic transmission.
I'd want the Panther Black 6.2L V8 with Manual 6-Speed.

I like the styling of the new Impala SS, but I wouldn't want to be cought dead on one, I have a reputation to maintain, no FWDs besides a few (Minivans, Reatta, Toronado, SHO Taurus)

i know i am asking for it here....but i have wood for a Mazda 6 (the speed edition,with the turbo) ever since i took a ride in a customers car. i had sold him an ATP turbo upgrade...the car is crazy fast,slick and gets good MPG off the boost....something i would drive to florida in a heartbeat!!!


or how about the chevy malibu...i had a rental last month....put 550 miles on it..sweet car.

i would LOVE to get a stinger,drive to cally and pick up have a dozen or so cars,stuff up here is stoopid money....
