Hey DF or any other Jeep experts, what's up with the cowl on this Jeep?

Scroll down to the 3rd or 4th picture. It's a '60 CJ5. What's up with the lack of a cowl vent and the offset block off plate? Been on the Jeep kick for about 7 yrs now but I haven't seen this yet.

No cowl vents on M-38A1s.

And M-38A1s have 2-12v batteries underneath the PS offset cowl cover/plate.


But that is a CJ-5, and not a military Jeep.


My guess? It's a civilian Willys CJ-5 w/a military body stamping, for whatever reason.


(My thing is military units, & not civvie, so can't say f'sure...just a guess.)

I had a pair of 5's 58 and 63, both had the same style cowl. thanks for showing me that, Now I need that in my collection.!!!
