The wife and I just got back from an overnighter to Pismo Beach and decided to rent a car for the 525 mile round trip.
I mistakenly chose a 2016 Chevy Malibu, what a miserable little machine!
The trunk wouldn't open with the key fob and there was no other means of doing it without folding down the rear seat and reaching for the emergency release.
We had to put our luggage in the back seat. Why do carmakers think a simple keyhole is so difficult anymore!
The seats were rock hard and when I got the steering wheel (which is too small by the way) adjusted just right, I couldn't see the top half of the speedo.
The roof pillars are so thick because of the airbags I couldn't see out, trying to back up was a pain in the ass. No wonder all four corners of this thing were already scraped.
The steering fights you back at every turn to the point that my arms were sore.
The suspension was way too stiff, I felt every bump in the road.
I would have been much more comfortable in the Crown Vic, or even the '85 Corolla. In the past year or so I've rented a few cars and although they weren't as bad as this thing
most of them had the same issues. Do most new cars suck this bad or am I just getting old?
