I went to the drive up at Culvers an ordered chicken tenders, a la carte. The foodservice professional asked "do you want the basket, or just the tenders?"
We went joyriding in Red today, ended up in Madisonville TN somehow, wherever that is, we didn't even know where we were, joyously lost and joyriding. Sort of the same thing, stopped at an A&W drive-in for lunch.
We didn't "drive in." We parked and got out of the car. We didn't want to eat in the car. It was like, they didn't know what to do with us, nobody ever walks up. Finally a girl came outside, we were loitering so conspicuously......"Can I HELP you?" Yeah, two Coney dogs with two fries and two teas. "Issssss that for HERE?"
And yes - if you take waitstaff out of their expected script they DO get lost. Once finished I often bid them "Have a day! Who am I to tell you what kind of day to have?" The smart ones get a chuckle and the others give me a deer in the headlights look.
