Great story and beautiful car !
The introduction of the 396 cu. in. big block in 1965 spelled the end of the Rochester fuel injection system. The big block option cost $293, while the fuel injected 327 cu. in. engine cost $538. Not many people could justify spending $245 more for 50 bhp less, even though FI could deliver over 20 mpg on the highway and would keep delivering fuel despite high G-loading in corners at racing speeds.

great history.
the injection had a problem with needing vacuum on bigger engines.. so you were stuck with the pointy snappy solid twacker cams.
by late 60s they had a rochester monojet getting dialed in with first computers.
these electrostatic findings allowed for the nerdy tuners we have today playing with timing (electric) to add any throttle and cam we want...it will keep fuel.
Very humble.
