I think it was Craig Vetter of motorcycle design fame that said you could get away with what ever you wanted on the street as long as you did it quietly. Would a minibike powered by a DC motor and 4 or 5 optimas haul ass or at least be sporty? The cops and the neighbors don't take kindly to motorized vehicles in my neighborhood and I can hardly blame em. But what about a whisper quiet 35 mph minibike? Can it be done for a few hundred bucks? Is a golf kart motor the hot ticket? What do you think? Here's the project. I gotta restore it for my boy someday. It was his Grandpa's.
