when he bought all that oak for the ribs, I figured it was going to be a pretty long build... I am really curious, after seeing this installment, how much of the original boat is going to be left. As he said that the builders follow the spirit of the design, not the actual design - and he's going to follow the letter of the designer - that means that he's building a new boat in the space where the old boat is sitting. Even at this point it's resto-mod because he used a different wood as the keel beam (replacing the oak with purple heart)Doing it all wrong since 1966

I'm guessing at least 90% of the wood is going to be replaced.
It's going to be a beautiful thing when its done.
How far away are you from it SBG, is it tempting to go and check it out in the flesh?
