my second granpda did the corps of engineers.. did stuff in new york with dams and waterways.
never got much about his army tour.. we learned he had a dramatic mental snap in the 60s and serious help came out of nowhere...
my real grandpa was equally as abyssed. U.S. army.
      he died at age 39.

my own tour is ANG 1992-98 official.
the real time is 91-98 (used in the background - hardly a secret to keep)

kc135a/e/r/q/t crew chief, with basic tactical...not much like that anymore.
      transient crew chief
      c-141, 130, c5, c17
      kc10
      f15 16 18
      A10
      B1
      navy planes a6, other stuff

I have 13 missions, and no time lost on the guard rules of weirdness.. the weekend a month and 10 days a year stuff.

I am 21 years disabled, line of duty. My story is the suicide maker.
      I'll speak it some day..
a most bizarre of active air guard tour with first enemies on our own soil.(I have been shot at- and chased)

I like hot rod forums for personal reasons. The car I built saved my life.

                  hey joe.

I wa son the facebook, got a friend request.. name familiar, face wasn't.
25 years gone by, it was an airman that started off the same time I did.

we get to chatting, now a cmsgt... it is good to see people going all the way.
the next messenger window over is my sister, a Smsgt.
is that like 40 stripes between two people?!

I used to think stuff stops in time, like death.

                  no. it is just me.

I am glad you got a full path in. Just starting 3 years earlier for USAF is a very terrible statistic.

I was a heavy equipment operator in the Wisconsin Army National Guard from 1970 til 1986. Sadly not smart enough to stay in for the last four years to get to 20! Operated a D-7 Crawler tractor mostly.

I'm a linguist, sorta. I mostly do other stuff. Trying to move to some kind of flying or operational job.

Sorry Fellas, I forgot to add that I served as a Boiler Technician...Snipe as we were called... Managed to squeeze an NEC 4505 (propulsion maintenance supervisor training) out before I got phased out with the boilers... thanks to all for your participation in this thread ! It adds a lot of background to the people I converse with by knowing where they come from....
