I've been working on the tilt column I was given to get it ready for the ramp truck. I wanted it to look like the original straight drive tilt I have in my 71 C10.
So I started by cutting the gear shifter knob off and the gear selector off. I grounded off all the old paint and tried to weld the bowl up. I found out it was aluminum so I had to start over. I cleand it all up again and used plumber putty in the holes like I did on the steering wheels I redid. Going to let dry for a few days then sand it down and primmer it. I also figured out a simple way to lock the shifter in place. The truck is a 4 speed so no neutral safety switch is needed. I put 2 longer screws in place of the short ones and locked the shifter in place.
First picture is of the aluminum bowl of the shifter.
