As much as I want to break it, we've all seen how fast my LSR effort has been evolving... Best of luck to you C. Woodford!

I translate the F/CBGC alphabet soup to "123-183.99 CID Classic Blown Gas Coupe"

Looks like someone broke it and not C Woodford

Looks like Paul started in CBGALT (Classic Blown Gas Altered) so switching to Gas Coupe would have been an easy swap.

racing with the potential of a catastrophic explosion because of large volumes of high-pressure steam.... yeah, boring

I don't remember who said it - but this answers that - "the hardest part about land speed racing is staying on the ground"

Yep. Not at my speeds but at 470, you bet.

Which car? I don't remember numbers well (why I'm not an engineer) so if you describe the car I can probably fill you in.

I have no idea, trying to find out what it was. All I know is that its F/CBGC for the record but started as F/CBALT.

That might be the Datsun B210-based car with a stretched nose though I'm FAR from sure of that. I know they changed classes in a similar fashion though they were not alone in that - not sure that was an "F" engine though. If so, it was running a Hayabusa. Or maybe the Lattin's American Bantam? Again, we see SO many cars it's hard to remember all of 'em.

Not so sure about the "stretched nose", Dan. Gas coupe is a stock body with an engine swap or QC. Altered is the same body but with an air dam, headlight covering, belly pan and a bunch of other stuff. A max of 2% stretch in the cowl area ahead of the firewall is allowed. Since he switched from Altered to GC I don't see how he could have removed the 2% stretch to be legal GC. Most GC guys, that run the Altered configuration, just add the Altered stuff to the GC to make the Altered class without the 2% body stretch. For example the Cohn's or Gib Lama. I sure wish I could find out what Paul was running. Have been searching and can't find out anything. Very impressive record . . . nice job!
