Batten down the hatches, FGI and any others. Looks like a hard rain's a-gonna fall (probably with serious wind, too). Sending Best Positive Energy your way. That, or lava.......

Well, it's not like they are used to it ... a hurricane has not made landfall in Hawaii in 26-years !

well, luckily its sorta blown itself out--downgraded to a tropical storm.
we are still getting rain ( ridiculous amounts like 40" in 6 hours in
some places ) but the major danger of 170+mph winds is done....

(edit-- quick look at the morning news shows its trying to reform....
heres hoping it doesnt and keeps moving west...)

OK, so maybe I can derail this thread as well. I always thought that mud was like lava in one way - it FLOWS. I don't believe I have ever seen mud slide. I have seen things slide on mud.

Like ME and me, you live on a coastal plain. Things are different when soaking rain and hills are involved, I guess. Evidently the ground can slide downhill if you have enough rain and enough hill.

                      Out here it's:
                      1) Build house where you should know better than to..
                      2) Defoliate area with fire.
                      3) Wait for the heavy stuff, Buy Insurance.
                      4) Mudslide.
                      5) Find more "secluded" spot, build again where you should know better than to.
                      .
