I bet the current LSR holders are happy their record is safe for now. No, wait a second, .....

Who was that old dude that said something about doing things "not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win, and the others, too"?

I''ll bet if I had taken the horse off of Red's front grille and installed one of those needles like on that one, he would have gone faster.

I bet if you'd put more air in Red's tyres, he would have gone faster

That nosecone was allegedly inspired by a movie character played by Jane Fonda in 1968:

The fact that they were looking for 31 million in funding. seems, nuts.
I know speed cost how fast you want to go. but that is nutso.
Did this thing ever go faster than 200mph. with the funding they already blew through.?

Probably not, if the testing was only in the UK. Watching the videos on Youtube of Thrust SSC, they used a 13.5 mile track to get a 5 ton car to go supersonic and stop afterwards.

On a 2 mile or so runway you will be pretty limited as to how fast you can go with a jet / thrust-driven car that doesn't jump off the line.

The money and speed in something like this is so inconceivable that I would probably be more excited about an xo/production record of 139+.

Cool - didn't realize that was a link (thought you just opted for red type (again, proof of my idiothood......).

Wish them the best of luck.
