I'll bet copying the livery of Don Garlits' Swamp Rat 24 or Swamp Rat 31 on my race car would tee-off some folks . . .

        I'm really considering it.

I would do another Buick but with a 454 inch LSX under the hood-which would enrage the entire Buick community to the point of never speaking to me again!
            I would ask which part?

It's a GM motor and anymore there is no "Buick motor"
The 64 wagon I'm building... (with a hot air GNX motor) .... has these reactions:

            1) why don't you use a newer motor?

            2) why would you cool with NOx?

            3) why not a LS motor (which I have a 6.0 LS motor with no home).

            4) why not the BBB?

            5) why not stock (heh, they don't know me very well).

That said, I've yet to hear anyone get upset at the build plan...

I like Buick motors because once you get to a certain power level, it's pretty much the same dollars to make the same power.... dollar for dollar, you will never beat a 500 ci Cadillac with 425 heads (resized and ported to 500 valves)... but the moment you start racing, the receipts all add up to the same amount no matter the motor choice. Look at the Finnegan race - "old' hemi against new LS and I'll bet that new bullet cost the same as Finnegan's old hemi... of course, you can't put water in the hemi now - but trifling details?

and I'll go on record saying that GTO motor in a 70 Buick would force me to take a moment alone, maybe many moments alone... especially if you put some kind of hair dryer on it

I really doubt that anyone would ever confuse you with the legendary Don Garlits... just sayin

imitation is the highest form of praise. I've met the legend, and I can't imagine him being bothered by it... but then again, I'm not his friend, just got a tour of his digs when I was 12 and in Florida with my dad...

If I could aquire another one. I'd like to get a busch series v6 and put 2 hairdriers on it., a clutchless transmission. and an old school holley based 390 4 barrel. fuel toilet bowl

GP? Don G? You're killin' me SBG. Don Garlits sets out to say as much as possible with as few words as possible.

angst is merely a byproduct of what I can provide.

                        something like this
If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
