Having been away awhile, I did a search on the word mancave and didn't come up with a specific thread-is that possible? if there is one someone point me to it otherwise I will start one.

The man-cave (a term in general use for some time although we call ours the game-room) is where the guys hang out, wherever that may be, in such instances where the gals prefer to yak on the patio. Although it was actually, originally Gail's - not my, choice to do this to an upstairs room we didn't otherwise use. We just had a bunch of odd crap that needed to go somewhere... Note this was done quite a while back now, but we've chosen to keep it as is.
This is more pics besides the one in Collections. It's pretty dusty up there, this is a dusty town and I haven't cleaned in a while so pardon that.

General Lee for-real stuff from wrecked cars was around L.A. when the show was being shot but even then was tough to get. I was buying a welder, my first real hi-buck shop tool, from a guy who had two roofs; apparently he had done work with the production company. I was really about to pay too much for that equipment...and told him I'd buy it only if he sold me a roof for a good price also, which he did although the $150 was probably about three-days' pay for me at the time. "Pollution Control Device" is from the '70s, there is a sketch of my Chall from before I built it, a photo after, and a picture a buddy bought at a car show from a guy who did photoshop-type work and had included it in his poster scene although it's hard to see here. The cabinet below contains what models/toys I have, the red ones are all toy Ferrari F-40s from different companies. I once had lots and lots of models from kits as well as some un-built kits but gave most away, the last only a few months ago to the disabled brother of a guy I bought an El Camino dash from and I hope he's using them and not selling them. I saved one that did well in a contest about the time I stopped building at 15 or so. To the right there is '40s - '70s audio-video equip including a functional wire recorder from about 1955, i.e. uses stainless wire on spools instead of tape. Over next to Matt Lauer (my hero) (I'm kidding) is a small inexpensive globe from my parent's house which I spent many hours with as a kid, imagining the places in the world I would go someday. (Some happened, some didn't.) When they went to throw it out a few years ago I about flipped. No-No-No, that lives here now.
Note the bulletin board, it's an old piece of plywood that was laying in the road when the Cal-Trans paint-striping truck apparently came along and drove right over it. Gail and I noticed it during a late-night commute from S.D. to L.A. when we were doing that, after a good laugh we picked it up and stuck it in the car for who-knows-why but it works great to pin pictures on now. A few favorite photos from back when; us, cars, friends. In the middle is Gail with Jay Leno, Grace Slick, her Emmy from tech work. There is a small photo of my El Camino with a BMW Isetta parked in the back, and my buddy's '67 Camaro from when we shot pics for Hot Rod Reader's Rides in 1994; it made the mag and the car would later make the cover. Blues Brothers is from while they were making the movie, Nehi was a gift from a friend, the clock was the Class of 1928's gift to my high school which hung in the Administration Building until the '60s when they decided to toss it out and my older brother (a crap collector like I) saved it instead. You can't quite see but it says "Class of 28" in the middle, as it comes near the 100th anniversary I think I'll give it back to them provided they display it somewhere and don't just stick it in a box. The 1980 Olympics videotape...if you recall, the U.S. pulled out of that one held in Moscow, so then the tape was either trash or a good souvenir, guess-which we think?
The WWII posters are re-pops, American, Russian. Miss Mopar signed me a poster in 1993. Maybe if we have a party for my 60th in a couple years we'll update the Audio/Video first. The old-car headlight set at top-right turns on with a light switch by the entry door.
Lots of window glare to the right, it is actually a nice upstairs view from there.
For years we didn't play vinyl because of a turntable that couldn't handle the smallest scratch, then this one was scored from a TV station "garage sale". It'll sail through anything and makes it possible to bring home records from the 2nd-hand store and be able to listen to them. Beatles White Album in so-so condition was scored for a couple bucks.
Old Keystone 35mm projector, a gift from my brother, and Philco radio. I have a few radios but stopped collecting that sort-of thing because of not having either the room or the ability to repair/restore them. On wall is old party invitations from back when we used to have 'em sometimes, I always found that a good invite was fun to make and got you a good crowd from it.
If I have that 60th party (we did 30th, 40th, 50th) I'll have a guy DJ and just play actual old records, a buddy has offered. There are speakers that go to an outside patio and volleyball court area. We'll see.
Thanks for letting me "show off" if that's what I'm doing, but this is just how the place is. Gail and I are constantly fighting the urge to be going out and collecting more crap and we'd have roomfuls if we didn't resist. We do watch Hoarders......
