On thanksgiving weekend 2017, one of my great pals, a mopar man thru and thru, wrangled me an invitation to a private “airport drags”. It was limited to 40 cars total and my buddy brought his Hellcat, His track only 440 Dart and his (owned since high school) 68 Satellite. I mounted up a set of Nitto NT1 road race tires on a set of cheapie closeout wheels from Tirerack on the GTO and headed over. There was everything from a twin turbo 64(?) chevy pickup to a COPO 69 Camaro recreation to new lambos and Porsches there. Strictly flag start, marked off ¼ mile with a too short shut down area for my car, and funfunfun! I got to make some passes in his new Hellcat to top it off! Our host brought a Demon with a 500ci wedge, a late model Audi R8 with aftermarket twin turbos and a few other cars. Ken Duttweiler brought out his big hp Mustang which was running 10s at the time as well. I made 18-20 Passes in my car as well as letting a few friends make passes in it. Days like this one are too few at this point in life!
