  • last weekends project...

well, i FINALLY got the sporty motor/trans back into the chopper.
its been out for almost 2 years as i rebuilt the motor. now the
    long and complicated task of--
    A) hooking up all the little things like brakes, wires, controls, etc... and
    B) remembering how/where everything fits-and where i put the dang bolts!
begins. yay. i gotta just learn to leave stuff alone already. oh well, one
project down, 36 billion to go............

        just a "normal" 1991 883 sporty motor in a 2004 paughco frame.
well, as normal as anything else i build......
think the frame is 4"up and 2" out over stock dims if i remember right.
21" front and 16" rear spoked rims, and only a 130 rear tire--wanted to get away
from the OCC/JJ/BL look thats so super overdone these days.

my last one was that way and it sucked to ride, and aside from color and a few
custom items i made looked exactly like every other bigdog/bourgetts/etc
out there. not that it wasnt nice--REAL nice-- just....too common.

i was trying to recreate something i saw sitting in a parking lot as a kid,
been stuck in my mind for 30+ years. so this ones a little more oldschool/70s style.
i have less than 1/4 the $ into the current one as i did the other (sold the silver
and blue to a guy on kauai for 1/2 what it cost to build, with 214 miles on the odometer...)
and like it a lot more so far. hopefully its a bit more comfy to ride, although
        thats debatable with a hardtail.

heres the first one below in pic, i just thought it was too common looking
and as i said it sucked --too long, too low, too loud, etc...
and i realized it wasnt that FUN to ride but more of a chore.
and whats the point of that? so she had to go. never been one for
high maintainence girls, know what i mean jellybean?

I like an easy sitting ride! Drop my hands and cross fingers on my belly..
Pretty much anything has been tried.
Plain and simple is how I'd go if I did a chopper.
Unfortunately my hips do allow me to ride far or long. I really miss road bikes!
