Isn't it great? Full torque at stall for everyone.
My hobby is needing a hobby.

      whatever works

in all trucks there is a run of fake and real for work or play.. all looking alike.
maybe this will wake people up more. Learn the models and numbers...

I do have the half ton with a tractor trailer worthy transmission that needed a few overload welds.

I wouldn't want to have to haul Mutt cross-country with that. Drive 200 miles and plug in for what - 6 or 8 hours......

I'll never drive one - but if the market wants one, fine.

Doesn't that kind of kill the whole concept?

Yep. I'm sure DB could wire that up, being of his caliber and expertise, but the damn generator won't run but about an hour on its own tank of gas, if that long. The whole subject makes me mad, but I'm of a foul mood lately anyhow. Sorry for a rare negative slant. Carry on.

What is really stupid with the new all lithium ion batteries is no one has yet developed a reasonable and inexpensive method of recycling them. The Chevy Volt is nearly all battery, and when they finally wear out they are stacking them in a warehouse until they can be dealt with.

Okay......there's absolutely that. That may be the biggest piece of the mess.

On the day that the entire world has no more coal-fired or nuclear power plants......on the day everything is either windmill or solar panel or hydro dam powered....okay, electric. Even if it takes us a week to get somewhere that should take 10 hours on the highway. The whole thing makes me madder than it should. Without getting political about it.

Then there is the fire issue...... An LI battery on fire is a real problem - we are talking EPA Superfund type problem, and many fire departments lack equipment and training for such battery fires.... Look at all the Teslas that have burned up.... Same problem with smartphones and vape units - lithium ion batteries can blow up when recharging.

Don't trains use diesel-electric engines / motors? Been that way for for 50 years. Wonder why they don't make trucks that way?

A locomotive weighs between 300000 - 400000 lbs and has 4000hp depending on the model.

Of course you wouldn’t need any where near the tractive effort in a automobile.
