According to Bob Gilbertson?s Funny Car team publicist, Bobby Doerrer, sometime between Sunday July 5 and Monday night July 6, thieves broke into their race shop in Blacksburg, S.C. and stole their parts trailer.
The black 28-foot Haulmark trailer containing the team?s golf cart, pit mat, two sets of Weld Funny Car bead lock rims with Goodyear tires, a set of Weld front rims and Goodyear tires, a drum of Red Line oil, hundreds of clutch discs and floaters, a parts cleaner and misc parts and pieces were taken.
The team figures the loss at $40,000 and is offering a reward for information leading to the recovery of the items. Anyone with knowledge of the whereabouts of the parts can reach the team at [email protected]. [7/10/2009]
