          Apparently I was in the wrong line of work all of my life. I'd buff off all of the peeled up stuff and apply some touchup model car paint for less than half of that.

            I can't imagine that repair costing more than $2K at any competent body shop (not talking about some back-alley MAACO-kind of place).

              Most shops won't repair it, they'll replace panels and paint to match. And charge twice the actual cost.

                They're talking a new bumper and fender $22K and $10K respectively. I probably overestimated paint and labor.
