  • RIP, Lee Iacocca

Lee passed away Tuesday morning at the age of 94. He started out in Ford Trucks, became the Father of the Mustang, saved Chrysler from oblivion, and led the effort to restore Ellis Island. He was a hell of an American, and we are the poorer for his passing.

RIP. ME's brother was one of the team of bright young engineers who transformed the Falcon into the Mustang under Lee's careful supervision. It was his first gig out of college and he has great memories of that experience.

Hemmings Daily had a great article on him this morning, and mentioned so many more things he did. What a great car guy he was - a legend, really.

I remember how he was "looked down upon" when he took over Chrysler...
            He showed them...
He was in the ads on tv at the time..

it was such a dark time and he stayed confident with actions.
I can still see a strong headed italian-american stepping up in a similar scenario.

                true american.

I'd swear my grandma followed him like a saint.
