    Saw this yesterday a couple of hundred yards from the house!

      I guess the diesel/electric running behind the tender is for emergency use, eh?
      Nice to see the old stuff still working. Came through Wichita not long ago.

        Yes, the D/E is as a backup... not even running in the video.... they were running an APU car for electricity and A/C in the passenger units!

            That's just neat as hell, wish it would make a southern run I'd drive to see that. I can remember seeing steam locomotives as a very young lad passing by my grandparents house back in the fifties.

              Used to love watching the steamers and early diesel engines hauling logs and lumber... Alot of those tracks are gone.

                  I almost saw it yesterday in Tucson, my wife did see it. There was a long traffic jam to get into the rail yard, to park and see it.
