Sean gets on me because I'm still sold on SBC old school, while he's all about LS... Not saying that he doesn't appreciate my ideas, but, it seems to be the wave of current technology.... He'll be using a Gen I SBC in one of his projects, but who knows otherwise... I myself was planning a 292 Inline 6 for a street rod, but it's limitations swayed my thought process....

Thinking about all this I REALLY want to see an LS with a Roots blower. I guess there are some with Prochargers and the like but no real huffers. Also, why not some big inch clones of LS motors? They can CNC ANYTHING why stick to Hemi and canted valve wedges? If the LS is going to take over the world, it should take over the whole world. Right now it is just a very well designed mid-size V8 that really likes turbos. My hobby is needing a hobby.

SBC - anything less then 500 hp
BBC - up to 900 hp
LS - more then 900 or need to meet emissions...*
Tires don't care how they get sufficient torque and/or hp, but my wallet does....
*also once you're at 900 hp, it costs about the same to make the motor as bulletproof as an LS... e.g. the Buick motor I'm building....Doing it all wrong since 1966

I can't hope enough that edlebrock, brodix, dart, world products, ect... get their hands on these and start making parts to go full stupid with. I also hope Ford gets smart, and puts this engine, and/or variants of it in EVERYTHING!
Originally posted by SuperBuickGuy View PostThat said, I get far more excited to see someone hot rod a natural-to-the-breed engine in a car then I do seeing someone take the easy way out with an LS.... that said, I'm not throwing rocks because I'm the midst of a moral dilemma on the Buick wagon I'm building.... it'd be so easy to swap in an LS and 4L60e - and ultimately, it'd probably be worth more because of the wider audience and the lack of need to educate the buyer that a V6 can be every bit as fast as an LS...
this is why I'm already loving this forum, I see cars that people are BUILDING, and not just bolting aftermarket parts together. I like the LS engines, but they've become so easy to put into anything if you can turn a wrench and read a wiring diagram.
