  • New Car Smog Regulation Rollback

I'd still like to hear how this is going to change anything but the air we breathe.

An example. If tobacco had been marked poisonous and addictive in the 30s or 40s it would have made a difference. Lately, not so much. Smog regs? If they would have been cut immediately before or after the adoption of cats or EFI it would have been big. Now, not so much. A few addons could be cut, but EFI, ECUs and electronics are here to stay. The only ways to cut costs would be like going from online video back to VHS. I'd be ALL IN on mileage and power improvements but can't see the money savings.

We've been using California standards for cars nationwide since 1970. Frankly, the rest of the country shouldn't be punished because everyone in California lives in their car.

Don't worry, the stench from the socialist homeless population is far more toxic than what the CARB is planning to sue over!

Where did I mention California in either of my posts? In any case you are dead wrong in your statement. Detroit built California cars and 49 state cars. They charged extra and few complained. Try again, show me the cost savings.

maybe california hippies can relax now and trust what has been good in 49 other states and all the worlds countries since the steam engine

I was pondering the craziest thing they ever raped a big corporation to change...

the very years of truck I am driving, spider injection. Some cali nitwit wanted the injectors right at the port underneath the intake instead of the poppet valve version still breaking wolrd record one time build longevity miles..

this requires wires in vacuum to change it.

they made a superconductor out of a gmc 96-99.. and there is unsuspecting people who think it is an upgrade to this day.

I think you are talking about emission standards and I am talking mileage requirements. I'm not researching anything for you.

All you know is you've been told California sucks. (ever live here?)

Only in 5-day increments for 30 years. Nice state. The National Parks are gorgeous. North of SF, and along the coast from Santa Barbara up to Monterrey is pretty cool. You can have the rest of it.

And I heard of a trailer park in Alabama that had open trenches instead of a septic system. Actually I'm watching housing prices there. But I want to get back to the $3500 figure. The CAFE, Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards were introduced in 1978, NOT n1970. The $3500 figure is NOT CAFE penalties which is where I go Huh?

I'm hearing "somebody" is telling people things so they MUST be true.

Proposed in '75. Enacted in '78.

Unlikely as MOST of the hippies left years ago for the Northwest and Colorado to name a few.
The whiners that now reside in California have predominately come from the "other" 49 states.

Maybe we should start a state bashing thread. There is a lot to be said about backwards country F***S having sex with their cousins in mobile homes high on meth while watching Fox News. No, I'm just here to talk cars.

I've worked in California in the oil industry and wouldn't live there for ALL the tea in China! And I don't need that state dictating to me automotive standards.
