  • anybody got these?

i need 2 strips of sheetmetal that 'kinda' match 50's body panels in thickness.
guessing 18-26 gauge maybe. i need them about 4" wide and 6-ft long, they can be
rolled up to ship, as long as not creased...

i went to 8 different places and cant find what i need, closest was a whole
4x8 sheet of 18 gauge steel for $150 plus $37 per cut. ouch.

im actually considering several of these from amazon.. yes im that desperate!

unless anyone got anything similar? i would be happy to pay $50 plus shipping costs to
hawaii, like i said roll em up and stuff em in a small flatrate box thru the USPS.

can anyone help a fat b@st@rd out?

    Thinking out loud.
commercial steel door, they are 80" or taller and at least 36" wide. should be able to find a discarded one of those local for peanuts or free.

You might reach out to local HVAC companies, Bigger commercial companies might have brakes and shears for making their own duct work.

you probably want 20 or 22 gauge, since exterior body panels on older cars are usually 21 gauge.

HVAC guys do galvanized, which usually isn't what you want on a car body. And they usually use thinner metal than car bodies.

The cookie cutter metal will likely be way too thin.

4x8 sheet is the typical way that lengths over 4 feet are sold. Makes life difficult if you don't have a way to transport and store a full sheet, as well as a way to cut it.

          Good luck.

yeah, i looked at some roof flashing but man did that stuff get THIN,
its like half what it used to be. im guessing its over 30 gauge, like
            thick tinfoil. lame.

tried 2 different sheetmetal ductwork shops, no luck there either.

guess i might have to just close my eyes and pass the wallet over
to the lady at mid pacific steel for the full 4x8 sheet. what a p@sser.

I did that a while back, but it's a long while, and mine is all gone, so I can't help.

If there's no way to use two 4' long pieces spliced together, that's what you gotta do. Sorry.
