Matches Judd's 125. If I was going to ride these all the time, I would probably get one of those orange 300's. The YZ450 is kind of overkill power-wise. The Rekluse clutch is what makes it somewhat tolerable on this kind of course. There is not any place in the test sections to let it really eat. I was in 2nd the majority of the time and rarely in 3rd gear. I went up 2 teeth on the rear sprocket and that eliminated me having to make the 1-2 shift all the time. The forks need work. They were pretty awesome when one had a blown seal, but fixed, they were nowhere close to supple. Really pounded me and the front didn't seem to want to stick in the turns as well as I would have linked. I didn't have any tools to adjust them, so I just sucked it up and rode. I won't make that mistake again. Rear shock settings seems to be fantastic.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

I feex radiator. I'll check for leaks when I am able to swing my leg over it to start it.

Action photos from Sunday. IIRC these were taken in transition sections between the timed test sections.

Want your YZ to stop like a Honda? It's easy. Just use Honda brakes. '08-09 YZ's are plagued with a mushy front brake that uses a tiny caliper "for weight reduction". The fix is to swap on Honda stuff. It is reported that even the factory race bikes used Honda parts. I picked up a whole assembly off ebay and bolted it right on the 450. I have not ridden it yet, but the lever feel is night and day better. I use the front brake A LOT and was used to just using 1 finger. I had to use 2 to make this thing work so it was driving me crazy.

I finally had the opportunity to spend some time riding my Husky a couple weeks back. It's great to be back on the bike!
A group of us just did a roughly organized ride in Milwaukee that stopped at a few local establishments (Called the Frozen Snot Ride). This was typically scheduled for March, but was delayed this year. That was very fun, diverse groups of motorcyclists getting together is always fun. Urban shenanigans.
They had a the new HD adventure bike there, wow... it's big and interesting.
Some friends have influenced me to purchase some luggage for my Dirt bike... strange new world! Apparently escaping to the north woods with a dirt bike for a few days is fun.Last edited by mike343sharpstick; April 14, 2021, 09:26 AM.
