I laugh at my dad and his Sunbeam(s) - there isn't a day where there isn't some issue the electrical components on the car...

my mom bought a grand wagoneer (the big one) new in 85,
on the drive home from the stealership the trans took a crepe.
they warranteed it and even paid for moms rental (after a bit
of big @ss me getting in the managers face...) and we got it
back in a week. it blew up the radiator on that drive home...
      so they fixed that too.

a month later the trans went out again. they were adamant that
they had 3 shots before we could lemon law it, so it got fixed
again, this time when we picked it up the a/c wasnt working anymore.

so they fixed that, and various other things that happened with
alarming regularity every month or so untill it was out of warranty.
then i got to fix it whenever it broke.

it went thru so many alternators and starters that i had 3-4 of
each new in boxes in a closet, whenever mom got stuck she
would call me and id bring one out and r&r it on the spot.
(one time it was raining so hard that while i was under the
car changing the starter, the water was going in my ears--it
was that deep! of course it was 10pm and i got sick the next day..)

i changed pan gaskets, starters, alternators, another radiator,
u joints, tires that broke a belt and wobbled, fixed the shift linkage,
found blown fuses, power steering hoses that ruptered, etc all on
the side of the road or in a random parking lot.

      it seemed ENDLESS.

then this fool offered her some CRAZY price in a parking lot
somewhere, she told him it sucked but he wanted it anyway so
she bid the wagoneer adieu.... several years later i saw it in
another parking lot and the same guy was getting in it, i walked
over to say hi and ask how it had been treating him.

      direct quote-
"man, thats the best car i ever had, i aint done nothing but put
gas in it for the last 4 years!"
