Yesterday in the news, the monolith had disappeared. Today it is reported that a message (along with a broken piece of it and a spot of urine) was found at the site. The comments on these articles are an interesting distraction.

Heck yeah, it teleported to Romania!

So far the creepiest part for me is it sat in Utah unnoticed since 2016.

It wasn't un-noticed. There are videos of it posted as far back as 2016. It's just the news media discovered it a few weeks ago, and according to them - if they didn't say it happened, it hasn't happened.

                  no world-fame is not unnoticed.

where it was located is 6 hours from anything - there's lots of interesting stuff in the desert; what's funny is people think that they can see everything since there are no trees.... that's hardly the case... I spent a lot of hours poking around Death Valley with my grandpa.... still amazing how much is being 'discovered' .... it was never lost.

I went to a brand new school for the 7th grade. They made a big deal out of it, did a time capsule thing in the corner of the brick building. They gave all the kids a manilla envelope to put in there, if it'll fit in that envelope they'll put it in there for 50 years. I can't remember what I put in my envelope, probably a goofy message and a new penny from that year maybe. But I definitely remember my buddy put a squirrel's tail in his envelope and they put it right in there and concreted over it with some kind of a commemorative engraved slab of granite. 50 years...hey I'll bet they jackhammered that thing back out maybe this year if I have my math right. Or maybe that school is a parking lot for a defunct shopping mall by now.

                    Never mind, /derail

I don't think so. I remember the Bangshift Book Club and that turned into a pile of shit.
