Must be cold out. I never knew airplanes suffered from shrinkage.

I'd just be happy with the mini 14 rifle.

I somehow doubt that'll be as popular as the gas or electric F-16's that recruiting squadrons have. I wonder if they've upgraded to F-22s in the last 10yrs.

I seriously considered joining the Air Force, and I didn't want to fly fighters - I wanted to fly those....

That's neat. There is a little C130 they use as well, the C17 is a new one for me.

Crazy to think I gave up the uniform 4 years ago this month already...Time flies when you get old....

When the Lincoln unit was still flying RF-4C's, we had a mini F4. Built mostly by the structural shop. It was big enough for a grown man to ride in with a lawn mower engine & working steering. In fact, that was what got me into the unit. In August of 1983 they had it at the Platte Co. fair that was only a couple of blocks from where I lived at the time. My first wife had sent me over to drag our two kids home for supper after an afternoon on the midway & I came around a corner & ran smack dab into it. Then I got to talking to the guy driving it about my time in Vietnam & how the F-4's had been one of many aircraft that provided air support for those of us in the ground units. The next thing you know, I was being invited to their next guard drill for a visit with all kind of perks for being prior service. So evidently, it takes about 11 & a half years for me to lose my fear of recruiters. I do not know what happened to the famous "Mini F4" after we covered to tankers in 1994. Never heard anymore about it. I will have to see it I can find any pictures of it.

F-4 was a fabulous aircraft, enjoyed working on it in Vietnam and Thailand. Thanks for service!!!

When I was in Turkey in 2002 for Norther Watch then Iraqi Freedom the Turks were still flying F4's. They would rotate them out every week with F16's. I don't know how well they were maintained but I never did see anyone working on them. They'd taxi into a H.A.S, fly a few sorties a week, then fly them away to make space for the 16's.

I was there for just a three or four week deployment in the fall of 2004. Incirlik I think it was. Where I learned to not be appreciative of the hosts call to prayer.
