Well, at least a mystery to me. the side cover appears to be Borg Warner & it may be a 4-speed but my vote is a 3-speed with OD. I do not believe that I have ever come across a rear housing with some type of mount on top like that one though. Other than the shift lever on that & the weird top mount, it reminds me of a full-synchro 3-speed that I used to have. A friend asked me for help ID'ing it. Don't know what his interest is. Anyone have any ideas?

does it say T85 on it? Looks like it's just the normal heavy duty three speed, from a van, from the 1960s.

actually the T10 is the 4 speed variant of the T85, which came first.

actually, looking closer...it looks like it IS the T10, from a van. They had a column shift 4 speed option. Note the reverse lever on the tail housing.

Never heard of a column shifted 4-speed. I have had several earlier (1950's) 3-speed overdrives that were similar. They all had the solenoid attached to the tail shaft. That probably served the same purpose as a shift lever there because I do not remember a lever back there on them. I think that they just had a switch inside to activate the solenoid....when you got a fast car, you think you've got everything.
