  • finally.. I witness a barn find

    1973 mark 5
    17k miles.

    the real thing.
my dads mechanic in the rural maine woods..
this was in a barn that collapsed.
    one owner.
Click image for larger version Name:	1973 mark 5.jpg Views:	0 Size:	426.4 KB ID:	1306955 with permission I got aphoto.. and forgot name and details.(I could ask dad)

I could not believe it, until he opened the door.

I remember these styles on the road.. the doors always have rattles, windows moving.
solid as a tank...opening and closing
    interior flawless.

left rear quarter has paint fade, no dents anywhere.
    needs front left blinker lense.
the fade is the one spot sunshine got a glimpse of it.
    barn collapsed around it..
it sat there for decades...still a waterproof roof over it.

actual real life barn find (literal). the old owner was so proud he put his name tag on the dash...it is still there.

    17k miles
valve seals shot (of course -predates viton)
no taps rattles bangs..started right up with a throttle pump (close auto choke) and apuff of blue
no misses...well into the 9's to 1 compression at least..
    original ac pump, original everything.
all glass good, all trim, no rips in roof cloth

looking at manifolds, it is 49 state emissions, no extra piping or EGR by factory.
460 4 barrel to clean up worthwhile.

    $10k cash takes it.(not kidding)

never seen anything like it, even when they were available on the road.

I got permission to take photo, the owner is dads mechanic.
yes, the lights still open and close

'73 was the last of the not hideously clown car bumpers, nice looking 5500 pounds of steam roller there.
Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.

I was gonna ask "do you finance"
I had a 'booger" green (bad choice of words I know) 1974 chevelle, about 90k miles.
another case of no real hard emissions.
just a raw old original six.
      almost identical colors.
Remembering not needing anything, body perfect..
      it is a real treat.
      that was 1993 for me.

seeing this raised my arm hairs. .. and i am a culted chevy guy.

                ALMOST POSTED SOLD !!
But I looked where you live.....Maine
I had a 1980 mkVI in classic black. It
had every bell and whistles available for that year. My son's called it the Black Widow, and We decorated it up as the "Bat Mobile" for Halloween. I loaned it to a coworker that was going through a divorce.......he wrecked it into a Oak Tree....

This one made me think of the "Green Hornet" car.......

Russell, I will buy a lotto ticket on the Dump Run this morning, and We can have a Bidding War for it !! If we both win....LOL

Nice! Should get the dough. Low miles and original. Put it on ebay. It will go fast. I bet you can get more than 10.

I finally remembered to go to the store. I got a $2 scratch off and put $2 on the numbers. I won $3. I will reinvest my winnings as soon as possible. I don't think they will trade my winning ticket for the title!
